What is recorded here

Dubh Loch in Glen Shira marks a medieval castle, though no tower or wall still stands to prove the claim. The name suggests a dark water hidden beside Shira, fitting a place where memory fades before stone does. Maybe a family kept a small fortress by that loch, watching traffic or simply enjoying the valley. If so, the water erased the building while the name preserved the shape of what disappeared.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dubh Loch, Glen Shira as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
