Inscribed stone in Cartronkeel (clonlonan By.)

In SW sector of Quaker burial ground (WM030-113----) in the town of Moate there is a partially surviving section of upstanding wall which represents the S wall of the Quaker meeting house (WM030-113001-). In the centre of the wall there is an arched doorway. There are three plaques on the wall. Two on the W side of the doorway. The first reads: “Site of friends meeting house AD 1694 By John Glibborn The Castle, Moate Taken down by order of Dublin meeting 1921.” The second plaque which is lozenge shaped reads: “Rebuilt in the year 1768.” A third plaque is visible on the wall to E of the doorway.
