Inishmagrath is a three-hectare islet in Lough Allen where a rectangular stone church and unnamed graveyard still mark the parish identity recorded by Lewis in 1837. Coffins crossed from Dead Man's Point, a distance of about three hundred metres, turning each burial into a deliberate journey across open water. The north wall has fallen into a rubble cairn and no grave-marker remains visible, yet the island kept its name as the Parish of the Island because people returned there to set the dead beyond the reach of ordinary land.
