What is recorded here

Indicated is a small artificial island in Ballymagauran Lough, County Leitrim, where timber piles still mark the edge of a drowned home. The mound rises less than a metre above the water, yet the spacing of those piles suggests people walked around it, tended it and trusted it to hold. The lough is long and narrow, so the island sits like a bead at the southern end, visible only when the surface stays quiet. It is the kind of place that makes you imagine lamps, ropes and children calling across dark water.

Located at the centre of the S end of subrectangular Ballymagauran Lough (dims c. 1.5km N-S; c. 400-450m E-W). This is a subcircular artificial island (dims 19.5m N-S; 16.5m E-W; H 0.8m) surrounded by timber piles placed 2m apart along the NW and S edges, 3-10m from the edge of the mound.
