Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort on a natural rise in County Offaly, Ireland. Its thirty-metre circular bank still stands beside a modern garden that cut through the northeast edge. The lost section may have hidden a doorway, a chamber or a warning for humans who approached without permission.
On a natural rise in undulating countryside. Circular area (diam 30m N-S) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 1m; ext. H 1.5m; int. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
