In depression. Random-rubble limestone walls encase earthen core. Front elevation (H 4.5m; Wth 4.45m) faces SW; its base, including lower portion of recess ope, is hewn out of limestone rock. Recess (Wth 2.25m; H c. 2.6m) partially cut into rock outcrop topped with corbelled stones and lintel, sloping slabs at rear with stoking hole and ope at base. Partially infilled stone-lined funnel (diam. 2.2m) barrel-shaped. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
