What is recorded here

Indicated is a hidden stone circle on the north side of the Mealagh River, waiting beneath layers of green growth. It appeared on maps only after 1842, suggesting human memory or local knowledge changed before ink touched paper. The river still flows beside it, carrying rain from the hills and touching the buried stones without ever being asked to explain them.

On N side of Mealagh River, NE of ringfort (CO105-044---). Heavily overgrown, inaccessible. Shown as subcircular field on OS 6-inch map (1902) (diam. c. 50-60m); not shown on OS 6-inch map (1842). Myler (1998, 21) describes this site but he incorrectly states that it is not on the SMR. He (1998, 21) describes it as 'a large round enclosure encompassed with a bank of small stones'.
