Indicated

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Indicated is a hidden enclosure in County Clare, Ireland, crouching in dense scrub beside an ancient wedge tomb. It appeared on maps as both a circle and a diamond, suggesting shape itself became uncertain where human memory faded. The land may have marked death, ritual or boundary, yet the scrub has swallowed its edges. What remains is a place where knowledge bent around absence instead of disappearing.
In dense scrub on a slight E-facing slope just c. 14m N of a clearing in which lies a wedge tomb (CL006-056----) c. 25m to the SE. Indicated as a subcircular enclosure (diam. c. 23m) on the 1916 OS 6-inch map and as a diamond-shaped enclosure on the 1916 edition. Noted by Ros Ó Maoldúin. It may have been associated with the wedge tomb. Another possible enclosure (CL006-204----) lies c. 130m SE of the wedge tomb. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 6 December 2021
