The settlement deserted (medieval) in Newtown Lower, Newtown Upper, Poulmaleen is in County Tipperary, Ireland. It stands in flat terrain about one kilometre from the Lingaun River, with eleven burgages recorded at Lynan in 1319 to 1320. A ruined thirteenth-century church marks the east end of the village now called Faugheen, while no settlement earthworks are visible at ground level.

In flat terrain c. 1km from the Lingaun River which flows N-S roughly along the line of the Kilkenny border. In 1319-20 there is mention of eleven burgages at Lynan which has been identified as Newtown (Lennon) by Bradley (1985, 59). The present village is named 'Newtown Lower' on the 1906 ed. OS 6-inch map and is currently named Faugheen. There is a 13th-century church (TS079-015001-) in ruins at the E end of the present village which is also depicted on the Down Survey (1655-6) map and mentioned in the Civil Survey (1654-6). The Down Survey map also shows a cluster of a church and two houses at the W end of the village, roughly where the present RC church is located.
