What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in County Clare, Ireland. It is an artificial island, usually built of stone, earth and vegetation, placed in shallow water as a home, shrine or boundary marker. People may have stood at its edge looking across the bay, dropping rope or simply watching the light change on the surface. The name gives no further shape, but the form is clear: a small made landholding in water, where human life depended on reading depth, tide and danger.
