What is recorded here

Granaghan More stands in ruins across Clare, a tower house reduced to stones and memory. It is not clear whether the build was for trade, tax or threat, but the shape still points upward like a broken finger. The land around it has changed hands and names, yet the tower keeps its own silence.

Built by the MacNamara dynasty in the 15th or 16th century, Castle Granaghan More is remembered as a significant example of a Clare tower house, reflecting the regional Gaelic aristocracy's defensive and social structures during the late medieval period.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
