What is recorded here

Indicated was a twenty-metre square fort on the demesne of Gibbings Grove House, visible on maps from 1842 to 1936 before local people levelled it around 1941. The plough now drags through soil that once held a boundary, perhaps a garden wall or a defensive ring. Whatever it enclosed, the land swallowed the shape while the memory kept the angle straight.

In level tillage, on demesne of Gibbings Grove House (14914). Indicated as square enclosure (c. 20m NE-SW; c. 20m NW-SE) on 1842, 1905 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps. No visible surface trace of site in ploughed field; according to local information, this 'fort' levelled c. 1941.
