What is recorded here

Indicated is a 51-metre circular enclosure in County Galway pastureland, marked on old maps as a tree-planted ring and still defined by a flat-topped bank, shallow fosse and a probable south-west entrance. Mature sycamore and ash grow along the bank, giving the place the appearance of a deliberate landscape feature rather than a ruined fortress. It may have been a true ringfort or a demesne ornament, but the clarity of its shape suggests people valued the circle enough to make it visible.

In level pastureland, formerly demesne land. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular tree-planted enclosure. The visible remains comprise a large well-preserved circular enclosure (D 51m) defined by a flat-topped regular bank (H 1.8m) and a shallow external fosse (Wth 1.8m). A number of gaps are present but that at SW (Wth 4m) is probably the original entrance. Mature sycamore and ash trees grow along the bank. Probably a tree-ring, but the possibility of it being a landscaped ringfort cannot be ruled out.
