Indicated

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Indicated is a forgotten ringfort in County Mayo, Ireland. The 1838 map captured a circular bank before memory and grass erased it. Local tradition still calls it a ringfort, preserving the shape that soil and time removed.
In rough low-lying pasture, beside farmyard. Shown on OS map (1838) as circular area enclosed by bank. No visible surface traces. Local tradition of ringfort. The above description has been derived from D. Lavelle (compiler), An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District including Lough Mask and Lough Carra. Lough Mask and Lough Carra Tourist Development Association (1994), No. 381. Date of upload: 11 February 2013
