What is recorded here

Indicated is a faded fairy fort in County Cavan, its earthen bank visible only on part of the circle while a modern bungalow occupies the middle. The fort has lost its entrance and much of its shape, but it still marks the ground where people once drew a line around their lives. What is missing has not stopped the place existing; it has made the boundary harder to see and easier to imagine.
An almost circular raised area (int. dims. c. 42m WSW-ENE; c. 47m NNW-SSE) enclosed by an earthen bank identifiable only from NNW-E-SE, and a shallow fosse traceable from SW-N-NNE. Original entrance not recognisable. Internal area now occupied by a modern bungalow. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 December 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
