What is recorded here

Indicated was a small oval garden field, about twenty feet across, perched on the eastern slope of a Mayo hill above a rocky outcrop. It appeared on the 1838 map but vanished from later ones after land reclamation removed its bank. The quarry to the west now scars the same landscape, leaving no trace of the modest enclosure that once held soil, seeds and human attention.

In pasture, situated at the break of slope on top of the steep E-facing slope of a prominent hill, just above a small cliff-like rocky outcrop. There is a commercial quarry to W. An oval embanked enclosure (c. 25m N−S; c. 20m E−W) is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map; it is not shown on later map editions. According to local information, there was a 'small garden field, about 20 feet across' at this location. It was not known as a ‘fort’ or rath in local tradition.
