What is recorded here

Indicated was a circular enclosure in County Galway grassland, shrinking from forty to twenty metres across between the first and third survey maps before disappearing entirely. Reclamation erased its surface trace decades ago, yet the changing diameter suggests human hands kept adjusting its boundary long after it stopped being a obvious monument. The land swallowed the mark, but the repeated measurement proves the place still mattered to the people watching it.

In level grassland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 40m) but on 3rd ed. (1920) it is shown as a smaller (?)gravel-filled enclosure (D c. 20m) in cleared farmland. According to local information, the area was reclaimed about 50 years ago and no visible surface trace survives.
