What is recorded here
Situated on a fairly level landscape with a small WSW-ENE stream c. 200m to the S. The parish church of Knockcommon (ME026-010----) is at the N side of a small rectangular graveyard (dims c. 35-50 N-S; c. 30m E-W) defined by earthen banks and hedges on every side except the N where the graveyard has been extended by a strip (dims c. 80m ENE-WSW; c. 30m NNW-SSE), which extends off to the N and E. Archaeological testing (98E0023) prior to the extension produce no related material (Murphy 2000). According to Dopping’s Visitation (1682-5) the graveyared was not enclosed (Ellison 1971, 36).
