What is recorded here

On pasture on top of a low hillock in undulating countryside. Circular area (diam 29.5m E-W) defined by a scarp which encloses the low hillock with slight evidence of an external fosse at N. The interior of the ringfort rises to the centre following the natural contour of the hillock. The site has utilised the natural slope of the hillock to form the defences of the ringfort. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
