What is recorded here

In undulating pasture, at the top of a SE-facing slope. A raised D-shaped area (42.3m NE-SW; 34m NW-SE) defined by a scarp (H 2.6m) NE-W and on the straight NW side by a road. The scarp is revetted S-W by a drystone wall. The interior is level and bisected NW-SE by the townland boundary. On the NE side of the townland boundary, the interior is used as a dump for old cars and a concrete garage has been built over the perimeter at N. On the SW side of the boundary a barn has been built in the interior and mature coniferous trees grow around the perimeter. There are no visible remains of the enclosure on the NW side of the road. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
