What is recorded here
Indicated is a partially levelled fairy fort in County Cork, Ireland. Its twenty-two-metre circular enclosure still shows a scarp, a stone field fence, and a silted-up external fosse on an SSW-facing slope. A possible man-made underground passage lies hidden inside, waiting for darkness, breath, and the kind of courage that believes floors can have doors.
In pasture, on break in SSW-facing slope. Partially levelled circular enclosure (diam. 22m E-W) defined by scarp NNE->SSE; stone field fence (H 1m) S->NW respects line of enclosure; silted-up external fosse SSW->NW. Possible Man-made underground passage (CO143-049002-) in interior.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
