What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort in County Limerick, Ireland. Its earthen bank and shallow fosse still mark an oval area beside a public road, while mature coniferous trees grow through the place and hide much of its shape. People may have lived there, feared it, or simply passed it without knowing what they were passing.
In wooded area, on gently undulating terrain, immediately east of public road. Oval area (25m N- S; 20.6m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.95m) with external fosse (D 0.5m; Wth 1.8m). Bank is best preserved along N arc, but is heavily masked by overgrowth NNE->S. Fosse, best preserved SSW->NNE, shallows out and is masked by overgrowth NNE->SSW. Mature coniferous trees grow on bank and cover level interior.
