Glensleade bawn in County Clare is a rectangular enclosure, 25m E-W and 20m N-S, surrounding a tower house within a multiperiod field system. Its wall survives at W and N, built from roughly hewn horizontally laid limestone blocks, with the E line traceable in rubble and as a scarp. The place suggests a defended domestic yard where tower house and bawn worked together, even if the eastern boundary has largely given way.
