What is recorded here
Mid-way along the S side of Burke St, Fethard, immediately outside the town wall (TS070-040032-). This building (dims. c. 4m E-W, c. 7m N-S) is currently a single bay three-storey house with two bays at ground level, consisting of two doorways, one converted into a window. It is possible that the W wall of this building incorporates the town wall. Internally the building has a narrow stone stair (Wth 0.79m) which rises up the W wall from ground to first-floor level, rising from the N end of the wall (O'Keeffe 1995, 70). It is probable that this building incorporates portion of the East Gate which crossed the street at this location.
