What is recorded here

Indicated is a ruined stone ringfort on a Clare terrace, its broken wall marking a old boundary between human fields and fairy ownership. The stones still stand where they fell, not where they were built, and the gap in the circle is the interesting part. A cashel is a room without a roof, large enough for a family or a small god, and the distinction rarely matters at dusk.

On a terrace of rough pasture and scrub, within a multiperiod field system (CL005-115001-) and with good views from E to SE. Hachured on the 1842 and 1916 eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. A roughly circular cashel (int. diam. 25m) defined by a collapsed stone wall (Wth 2-3m; H 0.3-0.5m) with some possible original inner-wall facing at W and WNW (H 0.7m) and outer-wall facing at ENE.
