Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

Indicated is a fairy fort in County Cork, Ireland. The earthen bank stands 1.5m high around a circular pasture, leaving only a narrow NE gap for entry. Conifers have taken root inside the northern bank, marking the boundary between human land and forgotten life.
In pasture, on gentle N-facing slope. Circular area (30m N-S; 31.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.5m). Gap (Wth 1.4m) in bank to NE. Conifers planted inside N bank. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
