What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Derrycashel (boyle By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It appeared on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map as a five-metre circular island barely five metres from the northeast shore of Derrynasallagh Lough. The island is no longer visible and may have become part of the lake shore.

Marked only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a circular island (diam. c. 5m), barely 5m from the NE shore of Derrynasallagh Lough (dims. c. 500m N-S; c. 250m E-W). It is not visible now and is not known locally as a crannog, but it might be incorporated into the shore of the lake. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
