'Toberconnell' a holy well. Located close to the shore on the S end of Loughros peninsula in fair pasture land. Described by Ó Muirgheasa as 'Tobar Chonaill, or St. Conall Caol's Well, on Loughros peninsula, west of Ardara. The turus, now discontinued, I believe, went from Tobar Chonaill round by Cloch Buidhe, Druim Miotain, and Cill Chaisil" (Ó Muirgheasa 1936, 151) (Ó Muirgheasa No. 36) The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. Linked to St. Conall Caol, the well is traditionally associated with healing and protection. Local folklore suggests that the saint, known for his ascetic practices, founded a monastic site in the area, and the well was used for ritual washing and as a site of pilgrimage.
