What is recorded here
Located on the E shoulder of an E-W drumlin ridge. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 31m WNW-ESE; 26.5m NNE-SSW) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth of top 0.4m; int. H 0.2m) S-N that is largely reduced to an external scarp (at SSW: H 1.2m) and hedge, with an outer drain (at SSW: Wth 0.8m; ext. D 0.2m) SSE-W-NNE. There is an entrance gap (Wth of base 0.5m) that is probably not the original entrance at ESE. The interior has become overgrown since 1968 (OSAP: 2005).
The description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
