Located in Lisnakillewbane Lough, a subrectangular lake (max. dims c. 670m E-W; c. 350m N-S). A oval island (dims c. 25m E-W; c. 10m N-S) is represented on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map at a point where a channel (L c. 250m) connects this lake with the SE part of Bawn Lough to the W. It is now a wooded area attached to the S bank of the channel, which it was impossible to inspect and the feature might be a sandbar. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
