What is recorded here

This was not included in the SMR (1987) or in the RMP (1996). It was noted on the 1900 revision OS 6-inch sheet and was visited during ASI field survey carried out in 1987, by which time the feature was gone with no visible trace at ground level. Based on its depicted on the 1900 map and 25-inch OS map, this appears to have been a small roughly rectangular tree plantation (dims. c. 17m N-S; c. 30m E-W). The evidence does not warrant its inclusion as an archaeological monument. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 4 February 2019

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
