On high commanding ground on a NE-SW running ridge, with land c. 10-20m to the SE sloping dramatically in a number of terraces to the valley floor. Indicated on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. Named ‘Lios Gaeilge’ on Robinson’s (1977) map. This rectangular enclosure (int. dims. 69m NE-SW; 50m NW-SE) is defined by a drystone wall (Wth 0.5m; H 0.9-1.3). There are some moss-covered stones at the base of the wall on the NW and SE sides. On the latter side the wall stands at the edge of a scarp (H c. 1-1.5m). There are some collapsed entrance gaps on the SW side. The highest part of the enclosure is at the centre of the NE wall, with the ground sloping away from here to the NW, SW and SE. Slightly meandering NE-SW through the S centre of the enclosure is a substantial double-faced wall (Wth 1.2m; H 0.6m) with associated tumble (combined Wth 2-3m), which appears to be ancient. There is a Man-made underground passage (CL010-098002-) c. 10m to the N of this wall, in the centre of the enclosure. This Man-made underground passage is situated in the NE corner of a natural hollow or quarry (c. 25m ENE-WSW; c. 15m NNW-SSE). Another hollow is visible in the S part of the enclosure. There are stone spreads against the inner face of the NE wall and against the exterior near the N end.
