What is recorded here
Indicated is a buried field system west of the River Clare in County Galway, where rectangular house foundations and old boundaries still mark a low-lying settlement roughly 300m by 130m. Aerial photography in September 1984 brought the shape of the place back into view, while an early Ordnance Survey map showed five roofed buildings, hinting that people still lived there when the land was first drawn. The fields may have swallowed the houses rather than the houses disappearing from the fields, as if Indicated were a living margin where residence, cultivation and memory kept shifting across the same wet ground.
In a low-lying area W of the River Clare. Aerial reconnaissance in September 1984 (ASGAP 167:62-3) revealed a cluster of rectangular house foundations and old field boundaries covering an area c. 300m NW-SE by 130m NE-SW. The 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map shows five roofed rectangular buildings in this area, suggesting that the settlement was still partially occupied at that time. Not visited.
