What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Clooncoose (ballintober North By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. The oval island is 45m E-W and 17-20m N-S, built of stone and earth 0.8m high. Vertical wooden posts, sometimes in double lines, remain visible beneath the water. A quernstone fragment lies at the centre, and another crannog is 30m west.
Situated c. 50m from the N shore of triangular Toomore Lough (dims. c. 300m N-S; c. 120m E-W at S; c. 250m E-W at N). Oval overgrown island (dims 45m E-W; 17- 20m N-S) consisting of stone and earth (H 0.8m) with vertical wooden posts, occasionally in double lines, visible under the water. A quernstone fragment is at the centre. Crannog (RO017-095001-) is c. 30m to the W. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
