Indicated, Castletown is an inverted pudding-bowl shaped motte with a flat top and overgrown sides, sitting in the grounds of a country house near the old castle and medieval borough. The surrounding ground changed when farm buildings and the house went up, hiding any bailey or boundary that may have marked the defensive edge. What remains is a compact earth mound, tall enough to stand above the trees and wide enough to suggest a small platform for watching, signalling or simply being seen.

In grounds of country house, just NW of castle (LI038-106004-); within or near site of medieval borough (LI038-106001-). Inverted pudding-bowl shaped mound (H c. 3.5m; base diam. c. 17m) with flat top (diam. 10m). Mostly overgrown with trees and bushes.
