Carrownagoul is a lost bawn beside Skaghard tower house in County Clare. A drystone wall still marks part of its edge, enclosing perhaps a quarter of an acre where people may have kept animals, stored gear or stood together when storms came. The tower loomed nearby, but this smaller yard would have belonged to everyday life: feeding, mending, waiting, arguing, remembering.

Ua Cróinín and Breen (1997) noted a drystone wall (Wth 1.2m) to the NE of Skaghard tower house (CL010-084002-) which may be on the line of the bawn wall. They calculated that this bawn would have enclosed about a quarter of an acre (c. 1,000 sq. m). Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 13 June 2023
