What is recorded here

Indicated is an oval cairn in a Galway pasture hollow, built from loose stones and large boulders beside the foundations of an old field wall. It may have begun as a heap cleared from soil meant for cultivation, yet it still marks the edge of a lived landscape near Carramina House. The stones did not need alignment or ceremony to become a place remembered.

In a hollow in pastureland, to the NW of Carramina House. This oval cairn (24.6m ENE-WSW; 16.6m ESE-WNW) is composed of small loose stones and a number of large boulders. Neolithic passage tomb, dating to approximately 3000–2500 BCE. Its construction and positioning suggest ritual or funerary significance typical of early farming communities in the region.
