Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carricklom, County Roscommon, Ireland. The circular grass-covered area sits on the SE-facing slope of a low hill, bounded by an overgrown earthen bank and an outer fosse visible from SW-WNW to NE-E. A widened ESE entrance leads into the poached interior, while two other raths stand roughly 110m NW and 170m S.
On the SE-facing slope of a low hill. Circular grass-covered but poached area (diam. 32.5m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3-4m; int. H 1m at S to 1.75m at E; ext. H 1.9-2.25m), and an outer fosse (Wth of base 3-4m; D 0.2-0.4m) SW-WNW and NE-E. There is a widened entrance (Wth 4m) at ESE. Rath (RO017-039----) is c. 110m to the NW, and rath (RO017-041----) is c. 170m to the S. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
