What is recorded here
Indicated is a vanished standing stone in County Cork, recorded only in an old inventory and absent from the land. It may have marked a boundary, a burial or a warning, yet even that purpose has blurred into silence. The grass keeps the shape of what is no longer visible.
In pasture, on W-facing slope. No visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
