What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort in County Cork, a thirty-metre earthen ring now choked with mature conifers. People may have lived inside its low bank before the trees claimed the ground, while local tradition assigns the space to fairies instead. The foramen still holds its shape beneath the branches, waiting for human eyes to remember what the forest has swallowed.

In pasture. Roughly circular area (diam. c. 30m) enclosed by low earthen bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.4m) S->N; linear earthen stone-faced field boundary to NE; earthen stone-faced field boundary to SE, which curves and most likely incorporates original earthen bank. Bank and interior planted with mature coniferous trees. Locally known as fairy fort. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
