What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Achonry, County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies a dry pasture peninsula jutting into bogland and contains a raised oval area measuring roughly thirty metres north-south and twenty-four and a half metres east-west. Two earthen banks surround the centre, though the outer bank is visible only from southeast to north-northeast and has been absorbed into local field boundaries. Several gaps break the inner bank, leaving the ancient structure partially open to the surrounding landscape.

On a peninsula of dry pasture jutting out into bogland. A raised oval area (c. 30m N-S; 24.5m E-W) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth 3.9m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.5m) with an intervening flat-bottomed dry fosse (Wth 5.3m). The outer earthen bank (Wth 2.7m; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.5m) is evident SE-NNE and has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary system along the E arc. There are numerous gaps in the inner bank.
