Illaungawna

Illaungawna is a small islet in Roaringwater Bay, County Cork, sitting beside Skeam East and facing the Cunnamore promontory. The bay belonged to O'Mahonys, O'Driscolls and McCarthys, who controlled its waters and fisheries until the late Middle Ages. Illaungawna may have served as a watchpoint, landing place or marker among Carbery's Hundred Isles, where flat red sandstone reefs break the surface and porpoise still move through shallow inlets.
