What is recorded here

Childrens Burial Gd in County Cork, Ireland is a subrectangular burial ground where many grave markers still appear inside a low scarp. The site is small enough to walk around in a minute, yet it holds the kind of loss that makes adults go quiet. Cattle may have grazed above it for generations, unaware that the ground beneath their hooves belonged to children.
In rough grazing. Subrectangular area (10.3m N-S; 8m E-W) defined by low scarp (H 0.5m). Many grave markers noted. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
