Hut site in Tullagubbeen,lackabaun

The precise location of a hut site beside a stream in the townland of Lackabaun or Tullagubbeen recorded in the Minute Book of County Kerry Field Club 09/05/1946 has not been identified. The Kerry Field Club recorded the following details; 'West of the traditional site of a village and ancient graveyard on David Fitzgeralds lands of Laccabawn] in the lands of Dan Hickey is a large imposing fort [KE030-065001-] double ringed with a moat between the rings. The inner ring is of clay, the outer of stone. The fort is much overgrown and though people say the Man-made underground passage is open, the party were unable to locate it because of the thick growth of bushes. From this fort a wide view could be had over the countryside round about. Now in this fort we came across another round hutsite of clay, and a small mound possibly a burial mound. At this part we were accompanied by Mr. O'Connell and Mr. O'Sullivan of Fahamor. They led us North, to the bank of the stream where it flows through a deep fissure thickly covered with scrub on both banks. The place is called Poula Fiboire because they said the sound of pipes could sometimes be heard in the streams here. Possibly the noise of the stream itself as it flows in a cascade through a sort of cave. On the bank of the stream the party inspected a further hutsite of clay. West of this on the same deep stream is a triangle (?) of land somewhat like a promontory fort where it is said Mass was celebrated in the penal days'.
