What is recorded here

Occupying a low raised area, c. 550m x 400m, at the base of the N side of an E-W ridge. An extensive stretch of low-lying boggy pasture surrounds the N side of the site and extends N to loughs Namona and Cloonaghlin. A complex of drystone-built structures and some animal shelters set within an old field system. Three huts are located W of the townland boundary. (1) (KE090-032----) Partly rebuilt, a square hut of rough construction with a sod-covered inner wall-face. D: 1.9m x 1.6m. T: 1.8m. (2) (KE090-033----) A circular structure, probably a hut, underlying a collapsed sheepfold. Overall diameter: 4.6m x 4m. (3) (KE090-035----) Subcircular structure of rough construction. Overall diameter: 3.4m x 3.1m. (4) (KE090-035----) The northernmost structure lies E of the townland boundary and consists of two adjoining, overgrown enclosures of rough construction. D: 5.8m x 5.5m and 3.4m x 3.2m. (5) (KE090-036----) A short distance S of the latter site, a partially buried circular hut with a basal course of large boulders and natural outcrop. D: 2.4m x 2.1m. (6) A well-built circular drystone hut, E of the latter. Two small annexes abut the NW and SW. D: 4.3m x 4.1m. H: 1.1m. T: 1m. (7) (KE090-032002-) A sod-covered, drystone corbelled hut whose interior is filled with stone collapse to the level of the top of its wall. Overall diameter: 4.9m x 4.8m. External height: 1m. Width of top of wall: .8m. (8) (KE090-036003-) A sheepfold built on the site of an earlier structure, E of the latter. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
