Málainn Bhig holds six clustered hut sites in rushy pasture on Leahan Mountain, including one square chamber barely two metres wide. The low drystone wall still stands two courses high beside neighbours just metres away, suggesting a small community rather than a lonely hermitage. People may have lived here through wet seasons, watching Slieve League and the sea from a slope where rain never fully drained.

In poorly drained rushy covered mountain pasture, in small river valley, on the SE facing slope of Leahan Mountain with views of the sea to the S and Slieve League to the W. This is one hut site of a clustered settlement of six hut sites (DG089-026004/010-). A cluster of 3 hut sites (DG089-026001/003-) are located 100m to the W. The poorly preserved heather covered remains of a square hut site (int. dims 2.5m N-S; 2.17m E-W) defined by a low drystone wall (H 0.4m; T 0.9m) which only survives two courses high. Nearby hut site (DG089-026005-) is 3.7m to the S with another hut site (DG089-026008-) 7.5m to the E. Located in an area of a dense concentration of hut sites which appear to make up a clustered settlement (DG089-026001/021).
