That is the largest chamber ever found inside a Loughcrew cave. A tall man could stand upright within the rock. The ceiling rose above his head instead of forcing him to crawl. Size matters because it changed what the chamber could hold. People could move past one another, set tools on the floor and wait for another person to join them. The cave did not demand that they leave their bodies behind. It gave them room to remain inside the mountain together.

Inside the inner bank of rath (ME015-036----) at NE. This is a subrectangular grass-covered area (int. dims 6.7m NE-SW; 5.3m NW-SE) defined by an earth bank (Wth of base 2-2.8m; H 0.3m) with a wide gap (Wth 3.8m) at SW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 8 January 2019
