Clare Island, County Mayo: An archaeological survey recorded a small oval hut hollow set into a steep boulder-strewn hill slope near Lecarrow, its south, west and northwest edge marked by a rough two-course boulder revetment up to 0.7m high. The north and east sides have largely vanished into the ground, as if the hill took back the part of the house that did not suit it. A person may have crouched there in rain, leaned against the stones and watched the settlement below, while the mountain kept its own secret shape.

Set into the base of a steep boulder- strewn hill slope to S, just outside the limits of a settlement area (MA085-066----). The hut site is visible as a small hollow, roughly oval in plan (2.7m NW–SE, >2.2m NE– SW). Although little if any trace of its limits are visible from N through E to S, it is well defined from S through W to NW by a rough revetment of boulders set into the hill slope.
