Hut site in Dunaree Latin

Hut site

What is recorded here

Dunaree Latin in County Monaghan holds a D-shaped hut site inside a rath, its low earthen banks still marking a small domestic world. The main chamber measured 6.5m NW-SE and 4.6m NE-SW, with banks 1m wide and 0.3m high, and it touched another hut site immediately to the south. People may have lived, stored, worked or sheltered there beneath an open sky, while the rath watched over the smaller human arrangement.
At the centre of rath (MO028-026001-) is a subcircular or D-shaped hut-site (ext. dims 6.5m NW-SE; 4.6m NE-SW) defined by low earthen banks (Wth 1m; H 0.3m), and it is conjoined with hut-site (MO028-026003-) immediately to the S. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 6 December, 2017
