Westropp called it a fort in 1912, but measurement shows a modest circular hut beside Cool Hill. Its true strangeness is the blocked underground passage: a drystone tube, too narrow for a person, running northeast from the terrace base. The chamber may have stored gear, hidden people during storms or served a ritual purpose now forgotten.

About 100m W of KE078-019----. A circular hut foundation built on a level terrace which is .5m high and is revetted with large slabs on its S side. Upright slabs define the hut circle. D: 6.85m x 6.3m. A drystone-built Man-made underground passage opens just off the S side of the hut at the base of the terrace. The opening, too small to allow access, is .5m wide x .35m high and leads into a passage which extends to NE. The coursed side-walls corbel inwards towards the roofing lintels. This is perhaps the site of the 'fort' referred to by Westropp, situated on the 'flank of Cool Hill' (1912, 298). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
